Considering all this, it is obvious that musical culture in Croatian
lands during the two centuries under consideration needed more import
than export. The lack of civil musical institutions intensified that need dur-
ing peaceful periods, when music as representation, entertainment or part
of church services could develop more intensively.

The situation in the 19th century has brought some substantial changes:
the urban musical institutions started to be established following the praxis
of democratization in music, and the migration processes underwent some
transformations.45 Thus, this issue could meet some parallels and differ-
ences according to the established parameters in comparison with the sit-
uation in the 17th and 18th centuries. The same could be said for the 20th
century with its own specific problems, and some models, detected in the
MusMig research, could be applied as paradigms for this period too.
