Academy of Music to equip themselves properly with sympathetic staff who

an modernism. Eventually Peter Maxwell Davies became part of the Brit-
ish musical establishment, being appointed to be the Master of the Queen’s
Music for ten years from 2004, an honour that could hardly have been ex-
pected when he was a student himself of one of Stanford’s own students.
