rely on their instinct and spontaneous reactions in class made them really
think and elaborate on various TEYL principles and often worry about the
ways of implementing them in the lesson. They mostly reported struggling
with using scaffolding strategies and giving instructions, in their words: ‘It
was really difficult to form instructions because we aren’t present so we can’t
use gestures as scaffolding.’
