existence, it is the most significant Czech-Viennese tamburitza ensemble.
The section frequently performed at internal events of the society, and lat-
er it began to organize separate concerts. The tamburitza section of the
TOVAČOVSKÝ society probably performed for the first time at the cele-
bration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Russian poet Pushkin,
which was held by Slavic societies in Vienna on 7 June 1899 (Cursalon). The
Tovačovský tamburitza players’ collaboration in the form of guest perfor-
mances was almost exclusively connected with Czech and Slovak societies
in Vienna in the following decades.
