all levels in various forms of cooperation. Every year, the Department organizes the
International Summer School of Museology in cooperation with leading institutions
and museologists. Thus it allows students to get in touch with the real environment,
gain new knowledge and experiences.
Students are our partners
An important part of the studies include the field exercises and field trips among
numerous other projects within the PKP and ŠIPK programs where students face
problems and conditions in the heritage area first-hand. Within the study programs
of the Department, students are included in the research work through the Insti-
tute for archaeology and heritage, where they are especially involved in the con-
tents of the Park Simonov zaliv. They also part in domestic and international scien-
tific meetings, archaeological excavations and at the International summer school of
museology.
Students are our pride
Iride Tomažič enrolled in the postgraduate course of History at the FH and upgrad-
ed her knowledge with elective subjects from the program Heritage of Europe and
the Mediterranean. She enriched her theoretical knowledge during her studies with
practical fieldwork in Slovenia, Austria, and Macedonia. After graduation, she en-
rolled in a master’s in Archaeology at the University of Cardiff in the United King-
dom. Upon completion, she carried on with archaeological fieldwork and got pro-
moted to the position of excavation leader. In 2017 she enrolled the doctoral study
of Anthropological Archaeology at the University of Michigan, USA.
Our graduates
In 2008, Josip Višnjić completed his postgraduate studies of Archaeological heritage
of the Mediterranean and was awarded the UP FH Bartol award for his thesis un-
der the mentorship of Prof. Dr Mitja Guštin. He enrolled in the doctorate studies
on our faculty as well and was awarded his PhD in 2018. For his dissertation under
