The State of Physical Activity and Work Ability of Workers
in Preschool Education
Rapid social changes are also reflected in the field of preschool education.
Workers are expected to be highly flexible, with increased labour productiv-
ity, which has negative consequences in certain professions. Using a sample
of 65 workers, we examined their levels of physical activity and state of work
ability. We find that 9 of all employees are physically inactive, 25 are min-
imally active, and 55 are active according to World Health Organization rec-
ommendations. Regarding the difficulty of the work, 6 of employees rated
the work as mentally demanding, 10 as physically demanding, and 84 of
all employees rated it as both mentally and physically demanding. The major-
ity of kindergarten employees (82) rated their ability to work as good or ex-
cellent. Performing a job in the field of preschool education puts an increasing
strain on the health of the employee. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention
to programmes aimed at strengthening health and to take care of one’s own
health in this area as well.
