Doživljanje in ukrepanje žrtev spletnega nasilja med slovenskimi srednješolci
has its own specifics compared to traditional bullying. The study involved 703
students from 181 Slovenian high schools. We found that those who spend
more time online daily are more likely to be victims of cyberbullying. They are
more likely to have feelings such as anger, shame, and worry, and are upset
when they are victims of cyberbullying. There are also big differences between
male and female students. Male students mostly do not give such importance
to cyberbullying. They normalise and minimise it, while female students are
significantly more likely to experience more emotional problems when cyber-
bullying occurs. Victims rarely seek help. Besides understanding the impor-
tance of digitalisation, we should raise young people’s awareness of the reality
of violence in the virtual world and systematically empower them to act if they
become victims of cyberbullying.
