between 1972 and 1983; between 1995 and 2000 the author has entirely renovated his
course which today comprises 8 textbooks. Guitar studies at the secondary level were for a
long time held only in Ljubljana, and later in Maribor, but today they are also provided at
the Arts High Schools in Koper, Velenje and Celje. In 1985, guitar studies of First
Instance were introduced at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, and finally, the university
studies of guitar were introduced in 1996, led by Andrej Grafenauer. With it guitar playing
in Slovenia became equal to other instruments that had enjoyed that status much earlier;
successful development path of teaching guitar in Slovenian music schools at all levels
could be an example for all who strive for similar success of those instruments to which
such development has failed until now.
