Digitalization by Slovene as a Foreign Language Teaching at the
University of Primorska: Experience and Challenges
At the University of Primorska, from year 2013/2014 onwards, is recorded the
ongoing growth of the number of foreign students, who take part in the
courses of Slovene language as a foreign. In order to take maximum account
of our target group, the corse-holders have carried out an online research of
interests and needs of foreign students. It turned out, that the participants
of the courses, coming from different cultural backgrounds, show interest in
appropriate behavior rules at the Slovene university, highlight the shortage
of subject specific vocabulary, need the systematic ongoing course to de-
velop writing skills of academic and professional texts. According to the re-
sults obtained, the course-holders find a lack of relevant didactic materials,
tailored to the needs of the target group. As appropriate strategy that allows
greater responsiveness of the subject content, we suggest the digitalization
of the courses. In the article are presented some cases how to implement ICT-
methods at the different stage and language activities by SFL-learning, which
have been tested within the Center for Slovene language University of Pri-
morska.
