Z izobra evanjem velikega števila glasbenikov je Glasbena Matica Maribor (GM Maribor) bistveno
segla v reševanje problematike glasbene izobra enosti in posledièno koncertne dejavnosti v tem
delu Slovenije. Izobra evala je mlade glasbenike in tako postopoma in kakovostno izpolnjevala
vrzeli. Nenazadnje je glasbena šola bistveno poveèala število glasbenih uèiteljev, obenem pa je
vzgajala mariborsko koncertno obèinstvo. Da je delo bilo sistematièno in kakovostno zastavljeno,
moremo utemeljevati s prisotnostjo takrat najpomembnejši mariborskih glasbenikov (Hinko
Druzoviè, Emerik Beran, Viktor Parma, Ferdo Herzog), ki so si zamislili organizacijo šole po
evropskem vzoru. Ko skušamo povzeti prizadevanja mariborske GM, ki jih je kazala na
izobra evalnem podroèju, moramo upoštevati stvarne dru bene in politiène razmere, kakor tudi
nezadostnost slovenske in splošne kulturne tradicije Maribora. Potrebno je poudariti pomanjkanje
usposobljenih kadrov in denarnih sredstev, ki je nemalokrat zanetilo nesoglasja znotraj društva.
Upoštevati je potrebno te ave s prostori, ki so bili vseskozi pretesni, ob koncu 30-ih let pa
odpovedani. Kljub temu je šola GM Maribor v slovenskem prostoru zasedla mesto uglednega
zavoda.

Abstract
Glasbena Matica Maribor from the Perspective of Music Education
Educating a great number of musicians, the Glasbena Matica Maribor (GM Maribor) essentially
contributed to the salvation of problems in the area of musical education and therefore also concert
activities in this part of Slovenia. It educated young musicians and thus gradually and with quality
filled the existing gaps. Moreover, the music school essentially increased the number of music
teachers and at the same time educated the concert public in Maribor. The work was build up on a
systematical and qualitative base, which can also be proved by the presence of the most important
musicians in Maribor at that time (Hinko Druzoviè, Emerik Beran, Viktor Parma, Ferdo Herzog),
which had in mind a school organization like the European one. As we try to sum up the efforts of the
GM Maribor, which it had shown in the educational area, we have to bare in mind the political and
social circumstances as well as the insufficiency of the Slovene and general cultural tradition of
Maribor. We have to emphasize the lack of qualified cadre and financial resources, which often
caused disharmony within the society. There was also a problem with the society’s premises which
was too small and was cancelled in the late 30s. In spite all that the school GM Maribor gained a
respectable position in the Slovenian place.
