V prispevku je na podlagi spoznanj in rezultatov mednarodnega projekta EducOpera - Struggling
against Early School Leaving tematiziran pomen vkljuèenosti mladostnikov v izvenšolske glasbene
procese pri prepreèevanju zgodnjega opušèanja šolanja, gradnji mostu med formalnim in
neformalnim izobra evanjem ter razvoju in vrednotenju razliènih kompetenc. Prispevek se
osredotoèa na proces dela, ki se je odvijal v Sloveniji in predstavi izzive, ki so se pojavili pri izvedbi
projekta. Ti so povezani s sistemsko ureditvijo izobra evanja na nacionalnem nivoju ter
razumevanjem pomena neformalnega in prilo nostnega uèenja.

Abstract
Growth Through Opera: Non-formal Music Education for Youngsters and the Development
of Competences
Based on the findings and results of the international project EducOpera – Struggling against Early
School Leaving, the paper discusses the importance of youngsters’ involvement in extracurricular
music processes in preventing early school leaving, building a bridge between formal and
non-formal education, and developing and evaluating various competencies. The article focuses on
the work process that took place in Slovenia and presents the challenges that have arisen during the
implementation of the project. These are linked to the systematic organization of education on the
national level and understanding of the importance of non-formal and informal learning.
