Ethical Dilemmas in the Work of Psychologists
in the Slovenian Army
Abstract
This article presents ethical dilemmas of military psychologists in
the Slovenian Armed Forces. First, the mission of the Slovenian
Armed Forces is presented, then the role and work of military
psychologists is described. In the main part of the article the
ethical dilemma of the dual relationship is discussed through four
examples. This dilemma is the most common one in the work of
military psychologists. The Code of Psychologists’ Professional
Ethics (2019) is a very important and helpful document for
resolving this dilemma, especially items 4.7. and 4.8. The first two
examples have been successfully resolved with systemic measures.
However, the other two examples are constantly present in the
work of military psychologists, with the last example being
the most common. The measures and actions that military
psychologists take in their daily work to resolve ethical dilemmas
are described.
