lack of diversity within psychology. The examples are based on real
cases and will hopefully be relevant to a wide range of audiences.
Each case discussion ends with guidelines for psychologists’
everyday practice. Regardless of our work context, psychologists
should aim to develop hypotheses and formulations adapted to
individuals’ cultures, habits and values. Finally, psychologists are
responsible for using culturally adapted and sensitive methods,
and to promote research for better understanding of cultural
differences.

Ethical Content in the Use of Means for Psychological
Assessment
Abstract
Traditionally, psychologists use psychological tests in psychological
assessment, and we acquire knowledge of their use in the course
of our studies. In this chapter, we only address ethical dilemmas
related to psychological tests, regardless of the psychologist’s field
of work. More about dilemmas in psychological assessment can
be found in other chapters. There are many ethical dilemmas in
the field of test use, and we have described unauthorised, non-
standardised, non-normalised use of psychological tests, when
an old psychological test should be replaced with a new, up-to-
date version, what to do when participants in a psychological
assessment request psychological tests and their results, and
how the psychologist should protect the material. In describing
good practises, we have first relied on Slovenian sources, the Code
and the International Guidelines for Test Use adopted by the
Slovenian Psychologists’ Association (DPS) in 2005, European
(European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations - EFPA) and
international sources (International Test Commission - ITC),
and also mentioned well-established sources from the USA. We
are aware that there are many other equally important and good
sources to learn from.

of results, outdated tests, unauthorised tests
