Slovenian Psychologists’ Association, the ethical rules of the
SFU Ljubljana and other rules that govern the ethical conduct
of students and lecturers alike. All branches follow the same
curriculum. At the undergraduate level, students are monitored
individually from the introductory seminar until the completion
of their studies. The experiential subjects that focus on self-
exploration and group dynamics help students to gain insight
into themselves and others. Such subjects are included in all study
terms to facilitate proper growth for professional practice. The
common denominator shared by most of the practical subjects is
ethics. Students learn about various aspects of ethical codes. Their
understanding is consolidated by completing seminar, research
and project assignments. Practical training is optional at the
undergraduate level, and compulsory at the master’s level, where
students meet with specific ethical dilemmas, which are resolved
at compulsory group supervision sessions. Before the practical
training, they attend a seminar on mobbing. Young people are thus
educated for an ethical stance at various levels throughout their
studies. The University has set up a hotline called ‘I Am Listening’,
where students from various psychology, psychotherapy and
psychosocial courses work as volunteers and develop a feel for
people, empathy and, through regular supervision, an ethical
stance in counselling work.

Ethics in the Supervision of Psychologists
Abstract
During their first year of practice, all psychologists should have
supervisors to assist them in their professional development,
and after completing a year of supervised practice, they should
be evaluated to determine if they are qualified to practice
independently. This chapter presents the importance of supervision
in developing ethical awareness and competence. The most common
ethical problems in supervision are presented: boundary crossing,
the problem of multiple relationships, the difficulty of balancing
the evaluative and supportive roles of supervision, the problems
of the power differential, different theoretical orientations, and
