Analysis of Kindergarten Professionals’ Opinions on the Implementation
of Outdoor Learning Activities, with a Focus on Safety Measures
The outdoor learning environment offers an inexhaustible source of learning
opportunities. The study conducted therefore examines activities in the out-
door learning environment, focusing on safety issues. The study involved 121
professionals working in a kindergarten. The data was collected using an on-
line questionnaire. We found that the amount of time children spend in the
outdoor learning environment does not depend on the location of the kinder-
garten. The children spend most of their time in the kindergarten playground.
The professionals who spend more hours outdoors are also more likely to go
for walks in the surrounding area. A more detailed analysis shows that the ma-
jority of professionals with fewer years of service believe that the risk of injury
does not increase with the age of the child, while those with more years of
service consider that the risk of injury increases.
