GLASBENA MATICA OD ZAÈETKOV DO USTANOVITVE
KONSERVATORIJA (1882–1919)

Prispevek obravnava postopni razvoj solopevske pedagogike na Slovenskem v okviru glasbene šole
ljubljanskega društva Glasbena matica od ustanovitve do profesionalizacije glasbenega šolstva z
ustanovitvijo Prvega jugoslovanskega konservatorija za glasbeno in odrsko umetnost (1882–1919),
ki temelji na dokumentih in drugih pisnih virih, ohranjenih v Glasbeni zbirki Narodne in
univerzitetne knji nice Ljubljana ter v Digitalni knji nici Slovenije, ki v dosedanjih objavah še niso
bili predmet raziskav. Posebej sta izpostavljena Fran Gerbiè in Matej Hubad, ki sta na podroèju
organiziranega pouka solopetja konec 19. oz. v zaèetku 20. stoletja pustila najvidnejši peèat. Njuno
znanje ter pedagoške sposobnosti potrjujejo mednarodne kariere številnih uèencev, izkazala sta se
tudi kot uspešna organizatorja glasbenega šolstva.

Abstract
solo singing pedagogy in Glasbena Matica music school from its Beginnings to Establishment
of Conservatory (1882–1919)
The article explains the gradual development of solo singing pedagogy on the Slovenian territory in
the context of the music school of the Ljubljana Music Society Glasbena matica from the beginning
to the professionalization of music education with the establishment of the first Jugoslavian
Conservatory of music and stage arts (1882–1919). It is based on documents and other written
sources, preserved in the Music collection of the National and University Library Ljubljana and the
Digital Library of Slovenia, which in previous publications have not been the subject of research.
Particulary we emphasized Fran Gerbiè and Matej Hubad, who have left the most prominent mark in
the field of organised solo singing teaching at the end of the 19th or in the beginning of the 20th
century. Their knowledge and pedagogical skills were confirmed by the international career of
many students. Both of them had also proved as a successful organizers of music education.
