Summary
The musical theory development of harmonic insights has always been complex in
European musical space. Both terminologically and as an expression, ‘harmonia’ fits into
the core of Western civilization in all its fields (science, technics, art and even mythology).
But this ancient term ‘harmonia’ enters music as a symbol and the contentually most
fitting synonym for polyphonic music systems of ramified styles and manifold forms,
throughout history an original European phenomenon. The very rise of harmony as an
