ety of fields. The aim of the study with 26 elementary school teachers from
Slovene schools in Italy was to find in what ways they include music and art in
cross-curricular teaching and what problems they face. We conducted semi-
structured interviews and, based on the classification of the answers into three
categories, we found that teachers (i) have too little knowledge in music and
art, (ii) lack knowledge about the specifics of cross-curricular integration, and
(iii) that they missed official recommendations and guidance (national guide-
lines) to help them plan cross-curricular lessons. Lessons learned in how music
and art contents are combined will be able to eliminate ambiguities in the de-
sign and implementation of effective cross-curricular links.
