How Well Students Know about Interdisciplinary Integration
and What Experience They Have with It?
In this paper, we present a preliminary research in which we wanted to deter-
mine the knowledge and opinion on interdisciplinary integration among stu-
dents of the Faculty of Education. We paid special attention to the possibility of
interdisciplinary approaches to teaching about the topic of water. The study in-
volved 38 4th year students of the Faculty of Education, University of Primorska
(UP), i.e. undergraduate study programme Primary School Teaching. The anal-
ysis of the answers to the questionnaire showed a lack of students’ knowledge
and skills for interdisciplinary teaching. That is why we should design and in-
clude appropriate training for the acquisition of knowledge and the develop-
ment of skills and competencies for interdisciplinary teaching in the study pro-
grams of the Faculty of Education (UP). Teachers must be provided with quality
pedagogical and professional development or lifelong professional develop-
ment, as this is the only way they will successfully contribute to pupils’ learning
outcomes and their acquisition of lifelong knowledge and skills.
