the field of students’ creative contribution to the school’s treatment of literary
texts. Her original contribution to the renewal of Slovenian language teaching
is most evident in the creative didactic use of Slovenian folklore, drama texts
and theatre education. Drawing on the methodology of reception aesthetics,
her research has most deeply explored the processes of close reading as well
as creative interpretation of the experienced literary/artistic work. The didactic

the spoken word (oral tradition), sound (radio play), the multi-coded expres-
sion of the body in space (theatre) and the visual arts (picture book, collage).
Vida Medved Udovič has disseminated the principle of the pupil’s active role
in the creation of the artworks’ meaning in a number of scholarly as well as
                       didactic publications, especially in readers.
